It's been a while

Well we have had a wild few months. We experienced a few hurricanes here in Beaumont and made it through Ike with little damage. We have spent the last few months trying to get back to normal. My grandfather passed the day after his 94th birthday but we were so happy he had such a long life. Soon after we were preparing for my surgery. We also figured out the baby needs glasses. We received them two days before my surgery. I thought having three little procedures would be so easy. WRONG!! Here I am four weeks later still recovering but finally moving at a slow but semi-normal pace. Now we are a week away from Christmas. I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.

Destin Fun!

We had a great time in Florida. We were able to see friends, relax and just enjoy our time together. The view was incredible. We saw dolphins every morning out of our balcony! The kids loved the beach but as the week came to an end the kids were done with the sand. They were ready to hit the outlet mall and do some shopping. Julia is back to gymnastics after 3 weeks off. She made it back one day before catching a nasty virus and throwing up all over the gym parking lot. So last week was a low key week for us while she slept and shared her virus with Mike. Everyone is better but coming back slowly. Well enjoy the pictures coming soon!

Celebration Time

We are just hours from leaving to Destin and we are so excited. There will be new pictures to see very soon. We finished our week of VBS and the kids had a blast, even Marisa. I had so much fun with all the elementary kids while we played games. I was dumb enought to sign up as the Games Leader without knowing that we would be outside getting eaten by mosquitos and ants. It was very hot earlier in the week while we were outside but at last I made it in the gym for the last 2 days. Well I have to get back and packed. The kids are packing their stuff and about 50 movies to watch on the road. I hope they last the 8-10 hour trip. Please pray for our safety and that Julia keeps the carsickness to a minimum! I will keep everyone posted on our week when we return. Ta Ta for now!

Grateful

I started this blog and have spent days trying to decide what to start it out with. I guess I thought it need to be something important but I realized that it really didn't matter. I just needed to get over this hump and write about our lives. Well we are just a couple of days from our fabulous trip to Destin. I cannot wait to play in the sand and just enjoy the kids for days! I was reminded quite a bit lately just how blessed we are. We sometimes take for granted all that we have and I just thought it was important to remind us all. We (I mean us and not necessarily you) get so caught up in our lives that we forget how blessed are. My kids get mad because they may not have the latest gadget or game, Mike and I gripe over whose turn it is to take Marisa potty for the 100th time that day and I complain because the kids fought all day. I realized lately that none of those things should matter. I see people with very sick children, friends who are just trying to learn how to take care of themselves again after a motorcyle wreck, mothers who don't live with their children, co-workers whose spouses have cancer and those who are trying to adopt a baby from another country and are ready to go there for 3 weeks when they get the call. I just wanted to remind myself that I should have no complaints. I have a great husband, beautiful and healthy kids and the best job EVER. I am a homemaker and I am just trying to make it the best home my kids will ever know.
